Jazz Piano

As a professional jazz pianist, Scott is highly influenced by his late teacher, the legendary Brazilian pianist Manfredo Fest, who worked with Sergio Mendes and Bossa Rio in the 1960s, and taught Grammy Award-winning composer Maria Schneider.  Scott's influences also include Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, and Benny Green.  His repertoire focuses on jazz standards from the 1920s to the 1970s, bebop, bossa nova, samba, and his original compositions.

Scott's performance venues include the Montreaux Jazz Festival, Jazz a Vienne, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Gainesville Friends of Jazz and Blues.

Scott has shared the stage with several of today's top jazz musicians, including Bela Fleck and the Flecktones' Howard Levy, Arturo Sandoval, Ira Sullivan, and violinist Billy Contreras.  Big band credits include the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra, the University of North Carolina Jazz Band I, and the Naples Philharmonic New Years Eve Gala Big Band Bash

Scott is available for private jazz piano and composition lessons, including lessons via Skype.

"Pianist Routenberg is a poetic soul.  His tone is like drops of liquid gold, with exquisite voicing and meticulous phrasing.  Routenberg exhibited a formidable mastery of keyboard technique, but never produced a harsh or strident tone.  The piano literally sang in his hands, and it was a joy to hear a clear, easily discernable melody with luscious legato.  Routenberg is also an intellect whose delight in rhythmic puzzles teased the ear and brain."
